Hey guys, need some help over here. I’ve been eyeballing my GA4 debugger lately and I’ve noticed it’s not catching all the Pageviews. Is that just the way it is or am I missing something? Never had any hiccups with the Debugger before.

Looking at the numbers, I’ve seen about a 13% drop in page views on Google Analytics 4 over the last month. Does that seem fishy to anyone else? Would really appreciate some insight if you’ve got it!

Just so you know, I’m running Google Analytics 4 through Google Tag Manager. Didn’t mess with the settings much – it’s all set to fire on All Pages. When I run a check on Google Tag Manager debugger, everything seems to be shipshape and Bristol fashion. Tags are firing off without a hitch. The GTM code is tucked up nice and cozy in the <head> at the top of the page. I’ve tried testing it a few ways, like hanging around on the page after it loads or checking immediately. Seems to only perform the page_view event on occasion, not every time. Any ideas?

Hey there! It’s definitely interesting to hear about the issue you’re facing with the GA4 debugger and the drop in pageviews. One thing you might want to consider is that GA4 events can sometimes be batched together, meaning they wait a bit to be sent out, expecting more events to be included in the same packet.

If you’re still noticing an inconsistency with the pageview tag, I’d suggest taking a closer look with the GTM preview debugger. You can specifically check for cases where the tag should have fired and delve into the tag itself to identify any potential trigger issues. I really hope this offers you a bit more insight into what may be causing your problem!

From your description, it might be a potential bug in the Google Analytics 4 (GA4) debug view, resulting in all page views not being detected accurately. Many marketers have noticed discrepancies in their data as well. It appears that the tool is not fully reliable at the moment. A new similar issue regarding event duplication in GA4 debugger has also surfaced recently. These issues may be collectively contributing to the diminished page view numbers you are seeing. It might be worth reaching out to Google Support for further assistance on these matters.
