Google Analytics 4 has a pretty neat feature discussed in their Entrances & Exits documentation. Essentially, it lets you see how often a session’s first or last event was on a certain page or screen.

Entrances and exits show you how many times the first or last event in
a session happened on a page or screen

However, when I go snooping around the dimensions and metrics in the Reporting API, I’m coming up empty for anything that goes hand-in-hand with entrances.

Anyone know if there’s a way to pull that entrance info using the reporting API?

Unfortunately, as of now, entrances data is not directly available via Google Analytics 4 Reporting API. The GA4 Reporting API has its own set of metrics and dimensions that it supports, and currently, it does not include entrances. It’s important to remember that the API and the Google Analytics interface don’t always offer the same data. The Google Analytics team is constantly updating and expanding the functionality of Google Analytics 4, so it’s possible that this feature could be added in the future. I recommend checking their documentation regularly for updates.

It doesn’t seem like Google’s reporting API provides a specific way to gather entrance info directly. The data might still be obtained indirectly by focusing on the first event of a session, but it appears there isn’t a straightforward method to extract these entrance metrics via the API.
