Hey gang, I’ve got a little problem here with GA4. See, normally I can see Google Ads related metrics like Google Ads cost there. Now, I need to extract that same data through API, using Fivetran. But it’s like trying to find a needle in a haystack – that metric seems nowhere to be found in the API. Even checked GA4 explorer, but it’s a no show there too. So, a little help here, please! How can I pull those Google Ads related metrics from GA4 just like I see on https://ga-dev-tools.web.app/ga4/dimensions-metrics-explorer/? Here’s what I am trying to find Google Analytics Explorer. Thanks my friends!

Unfortunately, as of now, Google’s GA4 API does not directly support fetching Google Ads related metrics similar to how you can see it in their dashboard. This deficiency has been noted by other users as well, and it is suggested to keep an eye on updates from the GA4 API documentation for any future inclusion of these metrics. Another potential workaround could be to link your Google Ads and GA4 and then use Google Ads API to fetch the costs, but the process could be cumbersome and may not always deliver the expected results. I would recommend reaching out to Fivetran or Google support for further clarification on this issue.

Currently, Google Ads costs data isn’t available directly through the GA4 API. So, a good workaround would be to use Google Ads API to get the cost data based on the Google Ads ID you get from GA4 API. I know it’s an extra step but right now, that’s the way to match up the data.
