Hey there! I’m trying to work out the cost of hooking up Google Analytics with BigQuery. I’m using this cool tool, the Google Cloud Pricing Calculator, which needs a few variables to do its magic. It’s asking me for:

    • Active storage
    • Long-term storage
    • Streaming inserts
    • Streaming reads

I know these should be somewhere in the Universal Analytics but I’m stumbling here. For example, where can I check out the size of my active storage? Any direction would be awesome!

Sure, no problem! Basically, you can just start using Google Analytics with BigQuery without worrying too much about the cost. Google Analytics adds just a small amount of data to your storage, and this doesn’t increase quickly. In fact, it’s so slow that you might find your bills amounting to less than $5, even after using it for a full year. Hope this clears your doubt!

Unfortunately, Google Analytics (Universal Analytics) does not explicitly provide these specific metrics (active storage, long-term storage, streaming inserts, streaming reads). However, you can estimate them based on your website or app’s usage data. For example, the storage (active and long-term) would be related to how much data your analytics is capturing and storing. This can depend on factors such as the number of users on your site, number of events tracked, and how long you’re storing the data. As for streaming inserts and streaming reads, these are more about how frequently you are sending data to and from BigQuery. But keep in mind these are just estimates and the actual cost can be different. You might want to contact Google Cloud Support for more personalized and accurate cost estimation.
