    Hey all,

So, here’s the deal. I’ve been using GTM to keep tabs on the purchases from my Shopify store. Google Analytics 4 is showing the purchases, but weirdly, without any value. (See it for yourself: https://i.stack.imgur.com/eARSJ.png)

I scrutinized my tags real good to make sure I didn’t botch something up, and as far as I can tell, everything’s in order. Check ’em out here: https://i.stack.imgur.com/jkgGB.png)

I’m kinda hitting a wall here, you know?

Been going through a ton of tutorials and reading heaps of blogs. At one point, I started thinking it might be a thing with the event types (string or number – you know what I’m talking about, right? https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/ga4/reference/events?client_type=gtm). But where the heck do I change that info? Should I even change it? Is that the actual problem? I don’t know, man.

Everything seems to jive with Shopify, so that’s not it.

This has been messing with my head for weeks now. If anyone can help a fella out and point me in the right direction, that’d be awesome!

    Thanks a million,

From what you’ve described, it seems like there could be a configuration issue with Google Tag Manager (GTM) or with Google Analytics 4 (GA4). The problem might be that the transaction value isn’t being sent to GA4 from your Shopify store via GTM. You need to ensure that GTM is set up to pass the transaction value from Shopify to GA4 correctly. This could involve making sure you’re capturing the right transaction data in your GTM tags. It might also be worth checking to see if there are any restrictions or modifications on data in GA4 that might be preventing the transaction value from being displayed. If you can’t find the issue, it might be best to engage a digital marketing professional specializing in advanced GA4 and GTM configurations, as tracking ecommerce data can sometimes be complex.

It sounds like you’re having an issue with Google Analytics 4 (GA4) not showing the value for purchases from your Shopify store, despite your tags appearing to be set up correctly. This could be a bit complex to resolve without technical knowledge, but here’s a simple explanation. This might be due to a mismatch in data types between your tags and what GA4 expects, but it’s difficult to determine this without further analysis. You may need to adjust your configurations within GTM or GA4, or it could be an issue with how the data is being sent from Shopify. A potential solution could be to look for help from a professional or a forum that specializes in GA4 and Shopify integration. It can bring much-needed clarity and help you navigate the technical aspects. It may not be the ideal easy fix, but diving deep into these issues at the intersection of analytics and e-commerce platforms could potentially resolve your problem.
