Issue with GA4 Internal Traffic Filter in Real-time Overview's Comparison Dropdown
So, I was following the step-by-step instructions in GA4 for setting up a system to identify internal traffic through the Tag Manager. The next part was to make a Data Filter to specifically filter the page view according to the traffic_type property. In my mind, the next logical step would be to head over to the real-time overview and simply select the filter from the dropdown menu to compare.
But here’s the thing, the
Test data filter name
was greyed, and it pops up a message saying “No data currently available for this dimension” when I hover over it. I mean, it’s only been three hours since I made this filter. And I’m pretty sure the traffic_type property does register on page_view events because I get a glimpse of this when I preview it in Google Tag Manager while moving around my website on a blocked internal IP.According to the documentation, I should be able to compare as soon as I create the filter. Is this what I should be expecting? Or is there some unspoken rule about a 24-hour delay like when you create a conversation?
