  'How to ensure backup of Google Analytics Universal data after its discontinuation?' How to ensure backup of Google Analytics Universal data

  Is anyone aware if it’s possible to still check out the data after Google Analytics Universal wraps up, and for how long after 2023?

  I’m asking ’cause I have a bunch of dashboards in Looker Studio tied to UA properties and I’m not sure if the data will still be kicking around afterwards. Guessing I’ll have to drag data from analytics and dump it into Looker Studio to keep my old data safe.

  I noticed that since last December UA cut out recording data, but I am not sure if it’s still hanging around on the analytics platform or if I’m gonna need to save my data elsewhere.

  Sure, basically, even though Google Analytics Universal is wrapping up, you can still get your hands on your data in a bunch of different ways. For example, you can directly download individual reports in various formats like CSV, TSV, Excel, Google Sheets, PDF, and also use the Google Analytics Reporting API. If you happen to be a Google Analytics 360 user, you can also export your data to BigQuery. The key is to take the necessary steps to backup your data before the service fully shuts down.

  As Google transitions from Universal Analytics (UA) to Google Analytics 4 (GA4), the data from UA will eventually no longer be collected and processed. Google has stated that as of July 2023, UA will no longer be supported, and it is not clear how long the UA data will be accessible after that. Therefore, it’s advisable to start transitioning your data to GA4 as soon as possible. You might need to export your historical UA data elsewhere for future needs or to use it in Looker Studio.
