<li>They signup for a free trial</li>
<li>I report this &#8220;sign up&#8221; event back to Google Analytics (GA4) using gtag</li>

It&#8217;s smooth sailing for standard tracking, but here&#8217;s the kicker. We want to trigger a few custom events using the <code>gtag('event', $eventName, $options)</code> protocol. Sadly, they&#8217;ve decided to go incognito and aren&#8217;t tracking.</p>

If you add up the totals yourself using a Google sheet, you&#8217;ll notice a discrepancy between your calculations and the grand total provided by the user interface of Google Analytics. From the looks of it, there seems to be a bug causing this difference in total values. Have a look at this screenshot for a clear view of the issue.</p>
